The basis of Nutritional Therapy is understanding the power of what we put into our bodies and how this can influence our health
Nutritional Therapy focuses on using targeted and safe diet and lifestyle adjustments to help restore body balance and optimise wellbeing. Once your medical and case history, symptoms and lifestyle have been evaluated, evidence-based science is used to help assess the possible underlying causes of your health concerns, recognising the importance of diet alongside factors such as exercise, sleep and stress and what the overall impact can be on your mind and body. The systems in our body are intricately connected and can easily fall out of balance. Gut health, for example, may have a knock-on effect on your immune system, stress levels, hormones mood or energy - ultimately impacting your entire body. By addressing the root cause, Nutritional Therapy could potentially benefit this entire chain of symptoms.
Working with each client as an individual is key
We have unique genes, different lives, likes, dislikes and priorities, and what works for one person does not necessarily work for the next. Advice is tailored to suit you as an individual with a focus on developing an enjoyment of eating ‘real foods’ and exploring food diversity. Recommendations are practical and realistic with a focus on making long term changes rather than quick fixes, to drive results.
Although I work with clients who suffer with ongoing heath issues such as digestive discomfort, poor blood sugar control, female hormone imbalances, poor thyroid function, low energy, mood and skin conditions, it may not be that you have a specific health concern to address - more a desire to start living a more healthy lifestyle. If this is the case I can help you navigate away from the often confusing and conflicting messages from the media and ‘Dr Google’.
I coach my clients to make the small, realistic but powerful and sustainable changes that are right for them, starting with the basics and building, step by step
Providing an understanding as to why the changes are important for you is key in tailored nutrition advice. Nutritional therapy works alongside conventional medicine and should not be seen as an alternative to medical advice. It’s always a case of working with GPs and/or other healthcare providers to ensure you receive the most appropriate, safe and rounded care.
I work with clients to support symptoms related to the following:
- DIGESTIVE PROBLEMS
- HORMONES
- BLOOD SUGAR MANAGEMENT
- POOR IMMUNE FUNCTION
- LOW ENERGY & FATIGUE
- STRESS
- WEIGHT
